CannAscend Ohio Processing, LLC received an Ohio processing license in 2019 after scoring in the top 25 of applicants and prevailing on administrative appeal. Rather than growing its own cannabis, the company purchases flower from licensed Ohio cultivators and processes it into concentrates, vapes, and edibles under its HASH brand, an acronym for 'Holistic and Spiritual Health.' CannAscend was originally backed by Ian James, Jimmy Gould, and Bill Brisben, and its affiliated dispensary business operated four Ohio locations before Columbia Care Inc. completed its acquisition of CannAscend on July 1, 2021.
